Vision statement
TEACH, PREACH, REACH
It is the aim and mission of New Pastures Church to work towards the following vision. As a body of believers we will support one another, encouraging each other when required, supporting one another through difficult times and involving ourselves in the life of the church. We will endeavour to speak only good things in our conversation, not gossiping, not pulling anyone down or complaining in little cliques.
We will try and work together in the aims of New Pastures Church to build the Church in the area where we meet, reaching out to the neighbourhood physically and in prayer.
It is the aim of New Pastures Church to see the name of Jesus lifted high, as a banner over Northampton. We will endeavour to live a life that shows our beliefs and our love of Christ – this is our witness.
- It is the aim of New Pastures Church to TEACH the Word of God to those who attend the gatherings of the church. We will try to study, learn and be obedient to The Word, encouraging each other in our Christian life. We aim to use the Word to build one another up in the faith, to encourage one another in the work of the church and to enable each person to achieve their full potential in the Lord. We aim to work together and build together. We aim to be a witness of God’s love to each other and to the area in which we meet. We aim to build a church that is seeking unity in Northampton and in so doing we will not ‘slate’ other churches or their work.
- It is the aim of New Pastures Church to PREACH the Word of God. In our preaching we will make the gospel message known to our neighbours. We will not degrade or pull down the beliefs of others but we will not compromise what the Word says. We aim to tolerate all who may attend our gatherings whilst upholding the Word of God as our ‘plumbline’. We will always monitor the preaching of our resident speakers and our visiting speakers to root out erroneous teaching.
- It is the aim of New Pastures Church to REACH the ‘lost’. We aim, through our gatherings and our witness to bring the Good News of Jesus to the area in which we meet. We will involve ourselves in the community in whatever areas we can. Jesus great commission was ‘to go into all the world’, starting with the home town – we will start with Kingsthorpe, Northampton. We will seek to reach people through Alpha, Livewire Youth Cafe, Brilliant Bible Club and Holiday clubs. We will seek out ways to become a part of the community and by our help, our love and our compassion we will seek to reach the lost. New Pastures Church is a part of the work of God in Kingsthorpe, we commit ourselves to helping the other churches in Kingsthorpe to fulfil their calling and work. We need to be united but with diversity – it is our aim to promote unity in The Church of Jesus.
“The Spirit of the Lord is on us, because He has anointed us to preach good news to the poor. He has sent us to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed” – Luke 4:18 (italics added)
