BBC - serving children with God's word

We promote and teach the Bible and the Christian message in an atmosphere of fun and learning

BBC is Junior Church run by members of the fellowship and also youngsters from within the club. It’s aim is to teach the Bible and it’s values to children of all ages from 4 to 17. It meets on a Tuesday evening in an atmosphere of fun.

BBC runs in two sections, the earlier for ages 4-11 meets at 6:00pm to 7:30pm and the older session, ages 12-17 meets from 7:30pm to 8:30pm. Both of these sessions meet at Whitehills Primary School in Acre Lane, Kingsthorpe, Northampton on term time Tuesday evenings

Who Can Join?

Anyone, as long as you are school year ‘R’ or over. Once the Bible Club youth turn 16 they can join the Youth Cell with members of the Church.

How many members are do we have?

Currently we have about 50 members.

What do we do?

Almost everything! Naturally we explore the Bible and try to find out what it actually says and children can win their own Bibles, but this is only the beginning. Over the history of the club we have also done:

  • Games
  • Crafts
  • Roller skating
  • Climbing
  • Crazy cricket
  • Holiday specials
  • 5-a-side football
  • Swimming
  • Holiday club
  • Watch videos

And much, much more … but everything we do is FUN!!

What does it cost?

Nothing, for normal club nights, but obviously if we use other peoples facilities for swimming or sports events we may make a charge to cover the costs.

Is it just for ‘religious types’?

Definitely not! The club was formed for children with no church connections who had a sense of adventure, both with regard to physical activities and their attitude to life. All are accepted and all opinions are respected. Children read, discuss and make up their own minds.

So, if I already go to church, can’t I join?

Yes, you will be very welcome. About a quarter of the membership has some church connection, but they represent almost every main branch of the Church. We are totally interdenominational.

Who runs the club?

The club was set up by trained teachers and is now run by volunteers from New Pastures Church and others, it is affiliated to the Northamptonshire Association of Youth Clubs. Now, some of the children who first joined the club over five years ago, are trainee leaders. Many of the older members are involved in running the club in some way.

All adults are police checked in accordance with the Child Protection Policy of New Pastures Church.

Anything else interesting?

We think so! We run a team of puppeteers, which children of a suitable age can join. We also run a very popular holiday club in the Summer holidays.
